Quality Officer at RESL

We have an opening for the Quality Officer position at the Radiological and Environmental Sciences Laboratory (RESL), which is a federally-owned and operated laboratory focusing primarily on analytical radiochemistry, radiation protection, and as a reference laboratory for numerous Performance Evaluation Programs. The RESL staff consists of professional chemists, physicists (including health physicists), physical scientists and related technicians, many of whom have academic training to the doctorate level. The pay range for this job is from $56,411 to $87,893 depending on your experience.

The Quality Officer (QO) reports directly to the RESL Program Manger (PM). The QO is responsible for reviewing and updating the Quality Manual policies and procedures that support RESL in maintaining its accreditations to the International Standards Organization (ISO). The QO assures the quality of the planning, conduct and evaluation of the RESL performance test sessions. The QO conducts and reports the results of audits, assessments and surveillances of RESL programs, processes, procedures, training activities, test data and records management against quality system requirements. The QO reports deviations to Senior Technical Managers and/or the PM, and coordinates, evaluates and approves corrective actions.

Here are the knowledges, skills and abilities you will be expected to have in order to be qualified for this job:

1. The ability to obtain and maintain a quality assurance program based on international laboratory accreditation standards, such as ISO 17025 or ILAC Guide 13.
2. Knowledge of quality assurance systems and principles to implement and quality assurance program.
